ANDREW Taylor sees no reason why Cardiff City can’t upset the odds in tomorrow’s Carling Cup final – and he points to last year’s showpiece for inspiration.
It was 12 months ago that Birmingham City, on their way to relegation from the Premier League, lifted the trophy when former Newcastle United striker Oba Martins struck the winner in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal.
And Hartlepool-born Taylor, who will line up for the Bluebirds against top-flight Liverpool, believes they can repeat that giant-killing act.
“It’s just one game over 90 minutes and there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t win it,” he told SportMail.
“Look at last year, everyone had written Birmingham off.
“So we can look at that and think ‘why not?’.
“We know they’re a quality side with top-class players in every position, but we’ve got to the final on merit and we deserve to be there as well.”
