FORMER Newcastle United defender Aaron Hughes has joined Queens Park Rangers on loan.

The 34-year-old started his career at Newcastle before moving to Aston Villa in the summer of 2005.

Hughes – who went on to make more than 200 appearances for United after making his debut against Barcelona in the Nou Camp – joined Fulham six and a half years ago.

The Northern Ireland international has been signed by Harry Redknapp to strengthen the club’s promotion push.
