TWO Hartlepool United legends are set to team up again – more than two decades after starring in the club’s second promotion triumph.
Brian Honour and Rob McKinnon, both heroes at Victoria Park thanks to their brilliant play on the two flanks, will be the star attractions at the Centenary Lounge at Victoria Park next Friday.
‘An Evening with Honour and McKinnon’ will feature stories from their time at Pools, including the promotion season under Cyril Knowles and Alan Murray. Both had to endure the hard times as well and they will also take part in a question and answer session.
Flying Scotsman McKinnon, signed on a free transfer by then boss Billy Horner from Newcastle United, became one of the club’s greatest-ever full-backs.
Not only could he defend, he was magnificent going forward and his talent was recognised by Motherwell, Dutch side Twente Enschede, Hearts and Scotland.
Honour was another inspired bit of business by Horner. Released by Darlington, the tenacious winger and local hero became a crowd favourite with Pools thanks to his play down both flanks.
Doors open at 7pm on the night and it’s just £10 per ticket, which includes pie and peas. Tickets are on sale now from the club’s ticket office. For further info, call (01429) 272584 (option 2).
