COLIN Cooper enjoyed a happy treble on Hartlepool United’s first day of pre-season training.

The Pools boss not only met the players for the first time, he met the fans and got to see the new home kit.

Cooper handed over the shirt to fans who had queued outside the club shop at Victoria Park this morning to get their hands on the blue and white jerseys.

Then it was inside to meet the squad formally for the first time ahead of a training session this afternoon.

“I’ve spoken to most of the players already and I’ve got a little presentation for the squad,” said the 46-year-old.

“It’s just a little thing about my thoughts and feelings about what I’m expecting from them this season.”

Cooper, who was joined at the club shop by assistant boss Craig Hignett, said he was pleased to meet the supporters too.

“I like the kit and it was nice to meet the fans and see them coming down here to support their club,” he said.

All the Pools squad were back at work today, including striker Steve Howard, who spent the end of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.
