THE duration of Michael Rae’s second stint at Hartlepool United is unknown - but he has received praise from Craig Hignett, writes CHRIS BELL.
The former Pools professional played the entire 90 minutes for the reserves during last night’s 1-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers.
Hignett picked out several positives in the Spennymoor man’s performance and did not rule out having a further look at the 26-year-old as the club’s search for a striker continues.
“Michael was one we wanted to have a look at,” Hignett told SportMail.
“I don’t think he’s as fit as he wants to be, he’ll admit that himself.
“But he put himself about and worked really hard on and off the ball.
“He made some really good runs but unfortunately we weren’t able to find him with a pass.”
Rae has been a prolific forward in the Northern League over the past few seasons and represented Great Britain in the World University Games this summer, scoring a brace in the final as GB lost 3-2 to France.
