England youngster set for Pools debut

HARTLEPOOL United could hand a debut to new loan signing Ryan Donaldson when they take on Notts County at Victoria Park on Tuesday night (kick off 7.45pm).

The Newcastle United starlet arrived at Maiden Castle yesterday to put the finishing touches to a one-month deal and goes straight into the squad for the visit of The Magpies having trained with his new team-mates for the first time.

And with Pools having failed to find the back of the net in more than six hours of League One football, there could be a temptation to pitch Donaldson straight in at the forefront of the attack.

SportMail revealed on Monday that the 19-year-old England youth international was on his way to The Vic.

And we understand he could yet be followed through the door by more new faces in the coming weeks with the loan deadline for Football League clubs not passing until March.

Indeed, Pools boss Mick Wadsworth told SportMail: "We have people out watching players, we're not lazy or idle and we are on it.

"But it's a case of getting the right deal, the right person, the right wages and so forth.

"We're not awash with money and we run a very tight ship here.

"But we have a little bit longer with loan deals so we'll make sure we get things right for the club."
