PAUL Murray has made his SEVENTH signing since taking over as Hartlepool United manager - bringing in former Sampdoria defender Matteo Lanzoni on loan.

The 26-year-old has joined on loan from Sky Bet League Two side Cambridge United until the end of December.

The Italian centre-back linked up with his new Pools team-mates for the first time today at Maiden Castle, in Durham.

Lanzoni began his career with hometown club Como, before earning a move to Sampdoria when he was just 17 and he went on to spend five years on the books of the Italian giants.

His first move to England came with Oldham Athletic when he won a contract on the back of a successful trial last July, moving on to Yeovil in January before landing at Cambridge United in the summer.

Murray was desperate to add defensive reinforcements after Sunderland defender Scott Harrison returned to his parent club following a three-month loan spell.

Lanzoni has been handed squad number 24.

He goes straight in to contention for Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two game against league leaders Wycombe Wanderers.
