Former Hartlepool United defender Darren Holden has signed a two-year deal with Scottish Premier League side Ross County.
The 21-year-old was one of six players released by manager Ronnie Moore at the end of the season as he looked to refresh a squad that narrowly avoided relegation from the Football League.
But Holden hasn’t wasted much time securing a new club - swapping Victoria Park, Hartlepool, for Victoria Park, Dingwall - on a two-year deal.
A club spokesman said: “Ross County Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of 21 year old defender, Darren Holden, which commences on the 1st of July, from English League Two side Hartlepool United.
“Darren joins the club on a two year deal.
“The South African national began his career at Hartlepool United, making his first team debut in April 2011.”
Holden made 11 appearances for Pools in 2014-15 but barely featured once Moore took charge, his last game was in the 2-0 home defeat to Morecambe at the end of December.
Holden made a total of 60 appearances for Pools.
