COLIN Cooper has made his second signing of the summer - and he’s brought in another former Middlesbrough star.

The Hartlepool United boss has brought in defender Stuart Parnaby just two days after announcing Matthew Bates as his first acquisition.

Parnaby, a former England U21 international, was released by Boro in the summer after making over 100 career appearances for the Riverside outfit - including a number alongside Cooper in the defence.

The 31-year-old, from Durham, can play on either side of the defence and brings a wealth of experience to the side.

He said he was “thrilled” to be joining Pools.

“It all happened so quick,” he told SportMail. “The gaffer rang me and asked to get together for a chat.

“We met for an hour over a coffee and it was a very easy decision for me to make.

“I can’t wait to come and play for the gaffer and for Hartlepool.”
