FORMER Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper has been released by Hull City following the club’s relegation.
Easington-born Harper – who spent 20 years at St James’s Park – has spent the past two years at the KC Stadium.
The 40-year-old made 31 appearances for Hull, who dropped down to the Championship on the final day of the Premier League season.
Steve Bruce, the club’s manager, said: “Regrettably, following relegation, we have made the decision to release the majority of those players whose contracts have expired.
“We would like to place on record our thanks for the service they have given to the club.”
Harper had a loan spell at Hartlepool United early in his career at Newcastle.
