FORMER Hartlepool United boss Mick Wadsworth is back in football having taken over at Northern League Celtic Nation.

The Cumbrian side, who last season had ex-Pools players Adam Boyd, Paul Arnison and Graham Lee on their books, have appointed Wadsworth alongside Davie Irons as a joint management team.

The pair worked together at Gretna, where Wadsworth was director of football during the last two years of their existence.

Wadsworth, 62, has been out of work since being sacked by Pools last season, while Irons, 51, quit Stenhousemuir last July after launching a new career as a police officer.

Celtic Nation chairman Steve Skinner said: “Mick and Davie have committed to Celtic Nation for 2013-14, a move that shows the ambitions the club has.

“It’s a massive step for us and we are targeting two promotions in two years.

“Our location has always proved very hard to attract players but we are hoping that Mick and Davie’s involvement will help us bring in those players from other areas.”
