Hartlepool squeaked into the third round of the FA Cup after edging out Salford City 2-0 in extra time of their replay at Victoria Park. But who were the better players?
Carl Magnay: Switched to right-back in place of the injured Michael Duckworth but was forced off injured late on 5
Matthew Bates: Worked hard in face of a lot of Salford pressure 6
Adam Jackson: Same as Bates but conceded needless free-kicks on edge of own area which could have been costly 5
Jake Carroll: One great cross in second half which forwards did not attack. Hasd a lot of defending to do and did it well 5
Rhys Oates: Super cross for Fenwick’s goal but otherwise very quiet 6
Nicky Featherstone: Tried to prompt Pools from the middle of the park but found himself pushed back by Salford pressure. Did well in extra-time 6
Jake Gray: One of the midfielder’s least effective displays 5
Connor Smith: Made a bright start and tried to get at away defence. Didn’t get into game after break and was subbed 6
Rakish Bingham: Lost the ball a lot. Struggled against the Salford centre-backs 5
Scott Fenwick: Failed to make impression for the 90 minutes but led the line well in extra-time. Great headed finish 6
Brad Walker (for Gray 66): One of better performers, set-up match-sealing second goal 6
Mikael Mandron (for Smith 66): Struggled (like the rest of the players) but super volley to seal the place in round three 5
Scott Harrison (for Magnay 85): Skinned straight away by Allen but after that solid as a rock and positive going forward 6
