Craig Hignett says he will look to arrange at least one more friendly for Hartlepool United’s pre-season programme.
Following the cancellation of the trip to Salford City on July 26 and the absence of any competitive matches in Tenerife, the Pools boss says he will “get on the phone” to try to get another.
Hignett filled one void by pencilling in an 11-a-side game tomorrow among his squad in La Caleta, but there are, as it stands, only four friendlies scheduled, with the trip to Spennymoor unlikely to be the full first XI.
Pools host Sunderland a week tomorrow before playing Spennymoor at Billingham Town a week on Friday and visiting Livingston on Saturday, July 23.
Hignett’s team will entertain Scunthorpe on Saturday, July 30 and he will probably look to get a match in the preceding midweek.
The visit of the Black Cats will mark the first home appearances for Lewis Alessandra, Padraig Amond, Nicky Deverdics and Toto Nsalia.
