Hartlepool boss still quiet on skipper

If Ronnie Moore is any closer to knowing his Hartlepool United skipper this season, then he is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Moore told SportMail last week that he ruled keeper Trevor Carson or his forwards out of the reckoning, adding that he’d run the rule over his candidates at Catterick.

So far, it has been a case of two days downand still three to go and he’ll keep them “guessing”.

“We’ve looked at who are the characters, the leaders, who are the most vocal, because that’s what you need from your captain,” said Moore as he watched his players tackle the Army’s assault course at Marne Barracks in Catterick.

“But skipper is a difficult position.

“Sometimes it can affect them, making you worry more about that than doing your own job. It can be difficult.

“We have three or four who I think can do it, but I will leave it late on, and leave them hanging on.”
