HARTLEPOOL United manager Ronnie Moore has confirmed his interest in Plymouth Argyle striker Marvin Morgan but says he is not putting his “eggs all in one basket”.

The Pools boss, who today celebrates his 62nd birthday, is desperate to add another forward to his squad but that is unlikely to happen ahead of the visit of Plymouth to Victoria Park on Saturday.

Argyle striker Morgan has been on his radar for a number of weeks and Moore watched him score twice for their reserves at Home Park earlier this week.

Even if Morgan did sign he would not be allowed to play in Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two match by John Sheridan.

Moore said: “Marvin Morgan is one I’ve watched, we are looking for a striker, but you can’t have all your eggs in one basket.

“There are two or three others too and we are hopeful, come Monday, someone will be in.”

Sheridan told The Plymouth Herald: “I have made it clear [to Morgan] he’s available to go out to whichever club suits him.

“I spoke to Ronnie [Moore] and I think he has been talking to Marvin’s agent so Ronnie knew the situation before he even came down to watch him.

“Full credit to Ronnie, though.

“He has come a long way to watch a reserve game.”

Pools are also trying to extend Reading midfielder Aaron Tshibola’s one-month loan deal until the end of the season.

Moore, speaking at his pre-match press conference, added: “We want two more in, new blood lifts all the players too and you have seen how good the players that have come in are too.

“We are trying to keep Aaron [Tshibola] and we are in talks with Reading to see if we can get that right.”

Tommy Miller (calf) could return to training next week while Stuart Parnaby (knee) is out for the season.

Striker Scott Fenwick is still being assessed after being taken off a few minutes into the second-half at Tranmere Rovers with an arm injury.

Moore added: “Everyone is fine - Scott apart - and he will be governed by Buster [physio Ian Gallagher].”
