MICK Wadsworth could well have been part of Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid renaissance had footballing fate not worked differently.
The Pools boss was number two to Sir Bobby Robson at Newcastle United in 2000 when the Magpie chief had the chance to bring his former Barcelona interpreter to St James’s Park to work alongside Wadsworth.
The move, though, failed to materialise and Mourinho, assistant at Benfica at the time, remained in his homeland.
And Wadsworth told SportMail that he has nothing but admiration for the man who stands on the verge of making football history with his third European crown in three different countries.
“I know a lot about him because of Sir Bobby,” he said.
