RONNIE Moore is delighted to have netted goalscorer Ryan Bird on loan from Cambridge United for the next month.
The 27-year-old joined Pools from their Sky Bet League Two rivals and is set to go straight into the line-up when Wimbledon visit Victoria Park on Saturday.
“It’s good to get him in, we nearly had him last week,” said Moore.
“He’s a good lad, a proven goalscorer – albeit at non-league level, but Scott Fenwick was the same.
“If you are a goalscorer, then you are a goalscorer.
“He gives us one or two more options and gets about the pitch, I think he will be a great addition for us.
“We have to create chances for him and I have no doubt that if and when we do he will get on the end of them.”
Moore, speaking at his pre-match press conference, also confirmed he is still interested in signing former Aston Villa youth Ebby Nelson-Addy, who is on trial at the club.
But the Pools boss confirmed ex-Manchester United striker John Cofie won’t be offered a deal at the moment.
Moore is also keen on extending the loan deal of David Mirfin from League One side Scunthorpe United, his one-month loan deal expires after the Dons match.

Pools will be without Matthew Bates (thigh), Scott Fenwick (ankle) and Stuart Parnaby (knee), while Tommy Miller is still working hard on the training ground after his return from a calf injury.
