MICK Wadsworth admits he would have no worries about thrusting teenage starlet Luke James on to the senior stage, writes CRAIG HOPE.
The talented midfielder – who turned 17 just seven days ago – signed professional forms at Victoria Park this week as Pools moved swiftly to secure his future.
It’s a sign of the youngster’s promise that the club have acted more than one year early in offering pro terms to a first-year Academy player.
And, with a spate of injuries having struck at first-team level in the past week, the timing of James’ new deal could well be apt.
And Pools chief Wadsworth has today told SportMail a little more about the Ashington-born teenager.
“He’s only a first-year YT and we’re very excited by his development,” he said.
“He’s a highly-talented and very intelligent footballer.”
