MICK Wadsworth today apologised to Hartlepool United supporters following a “pitiful” display in the defeat against Tranmere Rovers.
The Pools boss was raging when he came to reflect on the loss, a third on the spin at Victoria Park – a result which has dropped the side to 10th in the League One table ahead of Saturday’s visit of leaders Charlton Athletic .
Wadsworth had watched in disbelief as his side gifted Rovers the opening goal within 26 seconds of the second half, only to then see his defence switch off once again as they conceded direct from a throw-in, Lucas Akins the scorer of both goals.
But the response was lacklustre and that left Wadsworth to question the desire of his players.
“I say sorry to the fans because it was a pitiful effort in the second half,” he told SportMail.
