HARTLEPOOL United boss Ronnie Moore has been nominated for the manager of the month award for January after picking up two league wins in their bid for survival.
Moore joked after the recent Tranmere Rovers match that he would have to win the award at some point if Pools were to stay up this season.
And he is in with a chance after the nominations were announced for Sky Bet League Two.
It comes after Pools picked up league wins against Cheltenham Town and Plymouth Argyle and a point away to Rovers in January as they bid to stay in the Football League.
The 3-2 win over Argyle at Victoria Park saw Pools claw the gap to safety back to seven points ahead of a busy period of fixtures.
Moore is up against Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Micky Mellon of Shrewsbury Town and Chris Wilder of Northampton Town.
Ronnie Moore - Hartlepool United.
Moore began 2015 with the hardest job of any League 2 manager at rock bottom Hartlepool. But he has transmitted his enthusiasm, passion and optimism to his players. Seven points from five games, including confidence-boosting wins over Cheltenham Town and Plymouth Argyle, brings some hope of survival.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - Burton Albion.
Hasselbaink has made an easy transition into League 2 management, passing on his experience and know-how to reinforce Burton’s position in the automatic promotion places. A total of 11 points from five games unbeaten is a measure of his fine start.
Micky Mellon - Shrewsbury Town
Mellon guided his side to three successive wins to end the month as his side re-assumed the leadership of League 2 with the attacking flair that has become their trademark under the Scot. Ten points picked up from five games.
Chris Wilder - Northampton Town
If Wilder’s side struggled for consistency and rhythm in the first half of the season, January could hardly have gone better with 13 points from a possible 15 and a 12-2 goal differential. His team is looking towards a late play-off charge.
The winner of the Sky Bet League Two manager of the month for January will be announced this Friday.
This month’s judging panel is made up of former Ipswich manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman, Football League chief operating officer Andy Williamson, League Managers’ association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
