SAM Collins delivered a passionate rallying cry to his team-mates today as the skipper sounded: “We’ve come too far to throw it all away.”

Pools have now slumped to back-to-back defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Notts County, this after a club-record nine-match unbeaten run from the outset of the campaign.

That start had lifted Collins and co into play-off territory and had laid the foundations for a previously unlikely promotion push.

But the recent losses have quietened talk of such a prolonged stay at the top end of League One and Mick Wadsworth’s men are in desperate need of a victory against basement boys Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

And Collins told SportMail today: “We’ve had some words between us and that is good.”
