HARTLEPOOL United have completed the signing of former Premier League striker Marlon Harewood.
The 34-year-old former Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Newcastle United striker, has been handed the number 9 shirt at Victoria Park and was at the ground this afternoon to pose in his new shirt.
Harewood had been a free agent since his release from Bristol City a fortnight ago and Pools boss Colin Cooper has moved quickly to add his former Nottingham Forest team-mate to the squad.
The Hartlepool Mail reported on Saturday that Harewood was rumoured to be Cooper’s first signing of the Janaury transfer window and the deal was confirmed this afternoon.
He will train with his team mates at Maiden Castle tomorrow and go straight into the squad for the Sky Bet League Two match away to Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Middlesbrough forward Luke Williams, could also be a loan target and Pools already have links with Boro following similar deals for Christian Burgess and Matty Dolan, who recently returned to the Riverside after four months at The Vic.
