HARTLEPOOL United have extended the loan deal of Manchester United forward Jack Barmby until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old joined the Sky Bet League Two club in January on an initial month-long loan deal and it has now been confirmed he will stay at Victoria Park until the end of the campaign.

Barmby, who is the son of former England international Nick Barmby, has appeared 11 times for Pools scoring three goals - including a stunning strike in the York City win on his Pools and Football League debut.

The deal has been agreed ahead of tonight’s 5pm deadline for loan signings.

Speaking after Tuesday night’s 4-2 defeat to Mansfield Town, boss Colin Cooper said: “Jack came into the dressing room and said ‘I don’t want that to be my last game for Hartlepool United’ because everything has been good for him.

“Both sides were keen to extend it until the end of the season.”
