Hartlepool United: How did the players rate in 1-1 draw with Sutton?

Scott Loach: Should or could he have come for that cross at the end? It's hard to question England's No1 who made some top saves in the regulation 90. 8

Carl Magnay: Inadvertently diverted Thomas’s cross to the far post, but some excellent defensive work earlier. 8

Louis Laing: Another new central defensive pairing and they had plenty of graft to get through against strong opposition. Did well. 6

Michael Ledger: see above

Nicky Deverdics: Beaten defensively on a couple of occasions but, going forward, provided an impetus that failed to come from elsewhere. 7

Liam Donnelly: Asked to play the holding role and, like the centre halves was kept busy. 6

Michael Woods: Not as effective as he has been but one late drive forward and defence splitting pass showed what he has got. 6

Lewis Hawkins: Given how Pools were pushed back, he spent much of the game in his own territory. Plenty of running. 6

Devante Rodney: Mixed bag in front of goal, had an assist for Oates’s third of season but missed an easy second-half chance. 6

Jonathan Franks: Still looks Pools best bet for a goal and almost set up a match-clinching second when Butler made a 55th-minute save. Was nice to see him through the middle for a spell. 6

Rhys Oates: Now the second top scorer after bagging his third with a canny bit of poaching. Precious few openings otherwise. 6

SUBS

Blair Adams (for Rodney 74): Made a difference down the left, almost creating a goal for fellow sub Simpson and having a belting shot saved. 6

Connor Simpson (for Oates 77): close to a second home goal when the score was 1-0. 6

Luke George (for Woods 89): His first involvement was a strong challenge but unable to cut out that late cross which led to the equaliser. N/A
