COLIN Cooper’s squad will travel to Spain for a training camp at the state-of-the-art La Cala Resort.

Hartlepool United usually spend part of the summer playing games in Holland but will instead go to the resort in southern Spain in the early part of July.

The club has confirmed the players will spend a week at the same facilities that have been used by England Under-21s.

Cooper told Hartlepool United’s official website: “We were happy with what we were offered in Holland and the way we were looked after last year.

“But we want to have a look at changing things round a little bit and because we’re going earlier than other teams we’ve been able to get in to La Cala for a week which is excellent.

“It will be a hard week of training for the players and will be exactly what we need to get some work done in the early stages of pre-season.

“Hopefully by then I will have been able to bring some new players in to the group so it will also prove invaluable in terms of team-building and spirit within the squad.”

The team won’t play any games while in Spain.
