The 19-year-old midfielder will be at the International Stadium for the remainder of the season.

Pools boss Dave Jones wants Green to get some regular first-team football and joins a team at the top of their game.

Gateshead, managed by former Pools defender Neil Aspin, have won seven and drawn two of their last nine games to lie fifth in the National League table, the division’s final play-off place

Aspin had shown an interest in taking Nicky Deverdics on loan last month, only for the midfielder to instead join Dover Athletic for a month.

But the Heed boss has now agreed a deal for Green, who will be in their squad for Saturday’s visit to Eastleigh.

Green produced some promising displays during pre-season but has only been involved in three matches during the current campaign, playing once in the league and twice in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Meanwhile, Darlington have signed keeper Adam Bartlett following his release by Pools.

The 31-year-old was set to make his debut for the Quakers tonight only for the home game with Bradford Park Avenue at Blackwell Meadows to be postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Bartlett left Pools yesterday to take up a coaching role at Middlesbrough.
