STEPHEN Wright has revealed that his misfortune has proven to be Hartlepool United’s gain.
The 31-year-old was within days of setting up a new family home in the North-West when the move collapsed at the beginning of the summer.
Wright, though, still owned a property in the North-East from his six years at Sunderland and he and his young family decided to return to the area.
That led to a call to Pools boss Mick Wadsworth during which Wright asked if he could train with the club in a bid to maintain his fitness.
Wadsworth agreed and, after impressing during four weeks at Maiden Castle, the manager moved to sign the Scouse defender in time for last Saturday’s visit of Exeter City.
