FOUR wins on the spin, a deserted treatment room and almost two players vying for every position – Hartlepool United could well be in the process of laying the perfect blueprint for pre-season preparations.

Throw in the feelgood factor generated by record-breaking season ticket sales and signings such as Nobby Solano and there is lot to smile about if you’re a Poolie right now.

Illustrious North East neighbours Newcastle United and Sunderland could do well to glance down the A19 – through either bad luck or ill-judgment, their summer plans have been blighted by failed visa applications, injuries to key players and unwanted social-network outbursts.

The only thing trending on Twitter among Wadsworth’s boys is #anotherwintonight.

Now before we become drowned in a tidal wave of optimism, there will be those quick to point out that recent victories have all come at the expense of non-league opposition, but as Mick Wadsworth says, you can only beat what’s put out in front of you.

Last night’s triumph was by three clear goals, but could easily have been six.
