HARTLEPOOL United manager Colin Cooper has today completed the double loan signing of Sunderland pair Scott Harrison and Connor Oliver on loan until the end of the season.
Harrison, 20, is a central defender while Oliver, also 20, is capable of featuring in either defence or midfield and both are expected to be in the squad for the Sky Bet League Two match with Cheltenham Town on Saturday.
Cooper was an interested spectator in Sunderland Under-21s’ 1-0 win over Fulham on Monday afternoon, where both Oliver and Harrison were second half substitutes for Kevin Ball’s side.
Cooper had told SportMail after Tuesday night’s 4-2 home defeat to Mansfield Town that he was looking to bring in a couple of loan signings, with a central defender high on the priority list as Christian Burgess is now just a booking away from a two game suspension.
Harrison is a former Darlington youngster and spent a month on loan in League Two with Bury earlier this season, albeit he only made one appearance from the bench for the Shakers.
But he has been a regular for the U21s during the campaign after making 15 appearances for Ball’s men.
Oliver, meanwhile, only returned to full fitness just before Christmas after spending almost a year on the sidelines through injury and has looked bright since coming back into the fold.
Harrison has been handed squad number 24 while Oliver will wear 26. They will both go straight in to contention for Saturday’s game against Cheltenham Town at Victoria Park.
