ANTONY Sweeney admits that the “angry” Neale Cooper revealed himself at the weekend – and the Hartlepool United players don’t want to see a repeat of that at Bury this evening.
The Scot was fuming during and after the 5-0 mauling at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday and tore into his players in the away-team dressing room.
It was the first time that Cooper has delivered such a stinging blast to his men since his return to the club in December.
Sweeney, though, knew that a fiery side existed beneath the friendly facade of the boss having played under him during his previous reign at Victoria Park.
But the midfield ace admits it’s not something he wants to witness all that often.
“I think if any of the lads were in any doubt to the gaffer having an angry side then they’re not any more,” Sweeney told SportMail today.
“He’s been brilliant since he came in and his relaxed style of management has worked.
“His banter around the place is great, but I knew there was also a different side if you don’t perform.
“We saw that on Saturday and that was right because we were awful, no excuses.”
