The current design of a ships’s wheel with a football in the middle, with Hartlepool United FC at the top ad the words ‘The town’s club’ at the bottom, has been used since 1994.

Then owner, Harold Hornsey, wanted a new logo following his takeover of the club from Garry Gibson.

The crest had a minor change during the years of Increased Oil Recovery’s ownership with ‘the town’s club’ replaced by ‘An IOR company’.

Pools chairman Gary Coxall restored the town’s club to the crest following JPNG taking over as owners from IOR and is asking fans for their views on the badge and the possibility of changing the crest by completing an on-line survey.

A Pools spokesman said: “We want to receive as much feedback as possible from supporters about what they would like to see in any new design.

“The survey only takes a couple of minutes to complete and will give us some valuable info ahead of further discussions with our newly formed Fans Panel on Thursday evening.”
