NEALE Cooper is backing Ryan Noble to hit the goals trail once he has fellow young gun Luke James for support – starting with Monday’s visit of Brentford.
Noble, on loan from Sunderland until the end of the season, was left in attack by himself during yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Colchester United and his frustration was evident when he was replaced by James – rested following his return from a back layoff – with 15 minutes remaining.
The pair have only ever started together on one occasion, but never as a front two.
That, though, looks set to change in two days’ time.
“We’ll see a different side of Ryan playing in a two up front,” Cooper told SportMail today.
“I felt a wee bit sorry for him yesterday because we were trying to get balls down the sides but they were going too central against the big lads.
“But there were times the ball came to him and he should have done better and held it up.
“But he’s the biggest critic of himself and he’s disappointed he didn’t score, that’s good.
“On Monday when I play him alongside someone you might see a different Ryan.”
