COLIN Cooper knows how to show a girl a good time.
The Hartlepool United boss took his missus to watch Scunthorpe United v Burton Albion recently.
He joked that his better half, Julie, was as impressed as when he once treated her to a Radiohead gig. Not very.
But Mr Cooper was very impressed with fifth-placed Burton, even though Gary Rowett’s team lost to League Two’s top dogs.
“Burton are very organised, well structured, they try to play good football,” said Cooper.
“They have some creative players like Billy Kee and Jimmy Phillips.
“The two teams looked like they were never going to give anything away.
“And on the day it was a really nice goal from Paddy Madden which separated the sides.
“Burton were the best football team on the day but Scunthorpe won it.
“I’ve known Gary a while and you can see he’s putting his stamp on things at Burton.”
Cooper though says Pools will give it a go at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow.
He told SportMail: “I know we can compete with anyone in the league, whether we can beat them? That’s the task we’ve got tomorrow.
“They’ll be hoping we come and roll over and they get the points to maintain their own aenda at the top.
“If we can compete and we can give them a good game, you never know.
“But it will be hard, Burton’s record shows they are very good at defending their 18-yard box.”
