HARTLEPOOL United have secured the services of top scorer Charlie Wyke on loan for a further two months, it has been confirmed
As revealed by SportMail on Monday Pools were looking to tie down the on-loan Middlesbrough striker for a further eight weeks and the paperwork is now complete.
Since joining Pools on a second loan spell a month ago, Wyke has netted three goals in his first five appearances.
Boss Colin Cooper said he is “delighted” to secure Wyke for a longer spell at Victoria Park.
The 21-year-old is expected to be back leading the line for Pools this weekend in their home match against Portsmouth in Sky Bet League Two.
He missed the weekend defeat at Plymouth Argyle after going off with concussion in the 5-1 defeat at Northampton Town last Tuesday.
Cooper revealed after the 2-0 Argyle loss that he was confident of securing Wyke for longer.
The paperwork has now been signed and he will remain with the club until after the game with York City on Saturday, November 22.
Cooper said: “Charlie was excellent for us before he got the knock at Northampton so we’re pleased he’s sticking around.
“I think the fans have seen already how much he’s come on as a player since his last loan here and he looks like a player who is really enjoying his football.
“We’re delighted to get things sorted,” added Cooper who was talking to the club’s website.
Meanwhile, former Pools Number 2 Andy Rafferty has signed for non-league side Dover Athletic.
The stopper left Hartlepool United last month after his contract was mutually terminated.
He has now signed for Vanarama Conference side Dover. * We have launched a FREE football app covering Sunderland AFC, Newcastle United and Hartlepool United.
