YOU wouldn’t expect Hartlepool United’s very own safe hands Scott Flinders to drop too much during the course of his everyday life.
The netminder has been as assured as they come this season, rightly winning rave reviews among team-mates and the local press.
But Flinders very nearly dropped baby son Jacob this week when that recognition extended to national level, as the player-of-the-month nominee explained to SportMail: “I couldn’t believe it.
“It was a funny one because I was feeding my little boy and was sat on the sofa and I have Sky Sports News on every morning.
“Then the nominations flashed up and that was the first I’d heard of it – I nearly choked on my Coco Pops.
“Jacob wasn’t too bothered though, he was more interested in his feed, he didn’t have a clue – I was just happy I didn’t drop him!”
