HARTLEPOOL United defender Peter Hartley could have played his last game for the club.
The 25-year-old was absent from the squad which travelled to Nottingham Forest for last night’s Capital One Cup tie.
Hartley has been linked with a move to League One Stevenage throughout the summer and it is thought they have revived their interest in recent days.
Indeed, the Pools-born man could well be headed for pastures new before the weekend.
If so, it would bring to an end a four-year stay at Victoria Park.
Arguably the highlight of his time on Clarence Road has been the 2011/12 campaign in which he was named Player of the Year.
Should Hartley leave then manager Colin Cooper could well have scope to bring in new faces before August’s transfer deadline.
