HARTLEPOOL United are waiting to see the extent of the injuries to right-backs Michael Duckworth and Stuart Parnaby.

Duckworth tweaked his hamstring in training at Maiden Castle, in Durham, on Friday and missed Saturday’s win.

He was replaced in the team by Parnaby, himself just returning from a hamstring strain, who returned to his more natural position of right-back.

But after just 39 minutes, Parnaby had to be replaced after feeling his other hamstring go.

Jordan Richards came on and played well, helping Pools record their second win of the season.

Cooper told SportMail: “Michael tweaked a hamstring in training on Friday.

“He was having a scan Sunday morning, so we will know the extent.

“It was in some technical relay races and he felt it as he tried to hit a ball 20 yards.

“Stuart was feeling good and strong, started well and felt a hamstring. Another blow and the opposite one to previous.

“We are looking at next weekend, it’s a stretch already for that.”

l HARTLEPOOL United have been drawn at home to Sheffield United in the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

It will be the second year in a row Pools have faced the Blades in the competition, a goal from James Poole secured the win for Pools at Bramall Lane last season.

The Blades are managed by Nigel Clough, the son of former Pools and Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough.

The regionalised second round draw ties will be played in the week commencing October 6th.

Cooper told SportMail: “It’s a home draw, we beat them last year in the competition and I watched them against Mansfield in the Capital One Cup.

“I know Nigel [Clough] really well from our time in Nottingham and it’s nice to show ourselves against good opposition.”
