COLIN Cooper looks to chase up his interest in young prospects Scott Harrison and Connor Oliver.
The on-loan Sunderland duo gave excellent displays in Hartlepool United’s 1-1 draw at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday – Harrison alongside Sam Collins at the heart of the defence with Oliver making his full Football League debut in midfield.
Oliver gave a man-of-the-match performance and Cooper hopes Saturday’s home match with Exeter City will not be their last in Pools colours.
The two 20-year-olds, regular members of Kevin Ball’s Development side in the Barclays Premier Reserve League, were brought in on loan last month as cover for central defence and midfield.
Both are now automatic starters in League Two in place of the injured Christian Burgess and the suspended Simon Walton.
And Cooper would love them back if he can arrange a loan deal with Cats boss Gus Poyet and Academy chief Ball.
“I’ll be trying to see if Gus and Bally will let me have them back,” smiled the Pools boss.
“All in all, they have done smashing – I’ve been really pleased with both of them.
“Connor did well. When you play in development football you sometimes play at big grounds as well, so the stage wouldn’t have worried him.
“But I thought he looked every bit a good player.
“Whether he gets his opportunity or not at Sunderland I don’t know but he can come and play for me.

“It’s a development squad and they are at a Premier League club because they are quality young footballers, and I have to add, quality young men as well.
