HARTLEPOOL United have moved to tie highly-rated defender Dan Jones down to a new contract.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season with the club last season and played almost every game after Ronnie Moore was named as manager in December.
Jones, comfortable at left-back or centre-back, made a total of 28 appearances during 2014-15, playing through the pain barrier after fracturing his wrist.
Jones, who missed the season finale at Carlisle United, had surgery at the end of the League Two season but will be back for the new campaign.
Pools had taken up the option on Jones’ contract but moved to agree new terms on the deal to reward the promising defender for his form during Pools’ survival.
Details of the length of the contract have not been released by Pools.
