NATHAN Luscombe looks set to win a first start of the season at Bury this evening.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been out of favour under Neale Cooper since returning to pre-season training in an overweight condition back in July.
That saw him omitted from the squad which travelled to Holland for the summer tour and his appearance has been restricted to four substitute outings this term.
But now, with Cooper growing frustrated with the form of Jonathan Franks, among others, Luscombe is set for a recall.
“Nathan did alright when he came on,” said the Pools boss in recognition of his second-half cameo during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Crawley Town.
“He showed some nice touches and he won’t hide from possession.
“He wants to get on the ball and we need players like that right now.
“So I might make one or two changes.
“It can be an opportunity for others – I cannot wait for players, hoping that their form will turn.
“We need results now.”
Luscombe is likely to replace Franks in midfield while Cooper will be hoping that Evan Horwood recovers from his heel injury to figure at Gigg Lane.
Should the 25-year-old fail to prove his fitness then James Poole could continue in midfield.
Meanwhile, Pools will give Peter Hartley (foot) and Paul Murray (calf) until the last possible minute to shake off the problems which kept them out of the weekend defeat.
