HARTLEPOOL UNITED made it three pre-season wins in quick succession with a comfortable victory over Evo-stik Northern Premier League side Whitby Town.
Two goals either side of the half-time interval were enough for Mick Wadsworth’s side who dominated large parts of the game against the Seasiders.
Former Middlesbrough striker Andy Campbell had the game’s first chance but his first time effort flashed wide of Andy Rafferty’s goal.
Just before half time, Pools took a deserved lead. Jordan Richards’ deep delivery was headed back across the face of goal by Nathan Luscombe allowing Colin Larkin to nod home from five yards.
Pools came out of the blocks flying after the break and soon extended their lead through James Poole.
When Darren Holden’s cross was headed off the post by Larkin, the ball fell to Callum Hassan whose shot was well saved only for the ball to then fall kindly to Poole who made no mistake from eight yards.
Pools had more chances to kill the game off with Josh Rowbotham and Kerry Hedley both coming close but the score remained 2-0 leaving Wadsworth in good spirits ahead of Wednesday’s friendly with Harrogate Town.
