HARTLEPOOL United loan star Luke Williams looks sets to be recalled by parent club Middlesbrough when his month-long deal runs out after the weekend trip to Northampton Town.
The 20-year-old has been a revelation since signing for the Sky Bet League Two club, scoring twice in six appearance for Colin Cooper’s side.
But Boro manager Aitor Karanka has revealed he is looking to bring the forward back to the Championship side and possibly reinstate him in the first team at the Riverside.
It will come as a blow to Cooper and assistant Craig Hignett, who have said they would love to keep the Boro star at Victoria Park until the end of the season.
But Karanka has other ideas.
The Spaniard said “I’m thinking of bringing Luke back because he is a player who I like.
“I am following his progress at Hartlepool and he is doing very well.”
Williams has made four appearance for Boro so far this season before he joined Pools in January on a month-long deal.
Karanka though has been pleased with his development at The Vic, adding: “I am happy that Luke has done well because it shows he understood my message.
“If he comes here he will be a first team squad player and if he trains well he will have his chances to play.
“He played in the FA Cup in January and if he trains well he will have other opportunities.”
