RONNIE Moore admits he wouldn’t be surprised if ALL three teams battling relegation win this week – to send the fight for survival down to the wire.

It is three weeks on the trot it has happened, but it won’t be four.

Hartlepool United, Tranmere Rovers and Cheltenham Town all lost last weekend, with Pools remaining a point above the bottom two.

With Pools losing 3-0 at Luton Town, it came as an almighty relief for Moore & Co to come in at the final whistle to see their relegation rivals had also been beaten.

It meant nothing had changed at the bottom with just two rounds of matches left to play.

And if Pools beat Exeter City on Saturday and Rovers and Cheltenham both taste defeat, safety will be secured with a game to spare.

Moore is taking nothing for granted though and is expecting the fight for survival to go to the last day.

“Exeter is such a massive game,” said Moore.

“Both teams below did the same as us last weekend and you know what will happen this week - we will probably all win!

“That is the way the season has gone and it will go right down to the last game of the season.

“Then you are on a wing and a prayer for the last game.

“But if we don’t do our job then we won’t stay in this division.

“It is three weeks on the trot it has happened [other teams losing] but it won’t be four.”

Moore was being fed the scores by the Luton fans behind him at Kenilworth Road, not that he fully appreciated their running commentary on the scrap for survival.

After five games without a win, Moore is praying his side can overcome their recent nerves and beat Exeter.

Moore added: “The people behind us kept telling us the score at Luton and I felt like telling them to shut up, really.

“Everybody is nervous and it will be who handles it the best out of us three at the bottom, they will be safe.

“We could be safe this weekend, if we win and they lose. But the other teams will be saying the same thing.

“Ifs, buts and maybes don’t win you anything, it is what we do. And if we don’t do our part then we won’t stay up.”
