HARTLEPOOL United fans will get their first glimpse of superstar signing Nobby Solano this evening – and the Peruvian insists he can handle the expectation.
All eyes will be on the 96-times capped South American when he dons the new Pools shirt for the first time during tonight’s friendly match with AGOOV Apeldorm in Heiloo.
And great things will no doubt be expected from the man who once boasted one of the most-feared right boots in the Premier League.
For Solano, however, the laid-back demeanour which has made him such a hit with team-mates and supporters alike throughout his career allows him to shoulder such hope.
Speaking to SportMail ahead of his Pools debut, the former Newcastle United ace said: “I understand there will be pressure on me.
“I’m human and of course I get a little bit nervous – that’s normal, especially with all the expectation.
“But I don’t get scared. I have done a lot in football and that allows me to use that experience to handle the pressure. And once you are playing in any game after five or 10 minutes, you forget about everything else and just concentrate on the football.”
