MAN-of-the-moment James Poole wants a win at Scunthorpe United tonight for the simple reason it means there will be more games to play in.
The 21-year-old has made just one start for his new club so far this season following his summer switch from Manchester City.
But, after Saturday’s match-winning double strike during the 3-1 win at Rochdale, he is set to line up against The Iron for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first-round clash.
Progression all the way to the final will mean a date at Wembley, but Poole isn’t thinking about that just yet.
“I want to win purely because it means we’ve got more matches,” he told SportMail today.
“As a young player all I want to do is play football so a run in a cup competition would be brilliant.
“I’ve come from Manchester City where all I was really doing was training and then playing a reserve game every couple of weeks.
“I signed for Hartlepool to feel like a proper footballer and I do now.
“It’s great coming into training knowing that you’re working towards a game, so the more games the better for me.”
