NEALE Cooper is expecting a “major” performance at Bury tonight (kick-off 7.45pm) when he keeps faith with the same players who were battered at Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend.

Pools venture to Gigg Lane just 72 hours after suffering their heaviest defeat of the season during Saturday’s 5-0 humiliation at bottom club Wycombe Wanderers.

But Cooper will not be making wholesale changes for the game against Richard Barker’s Shakers and will instead give his crestfallen stars the chance to atone for their weekend horror show.

“It’s a relief that we have a game tonight, I must admit,” said Cooper today.

“I saw the dark side of this team at the weekend having only seen the good side since I came back here.

“But we will bounce back tonight and we will be better than that – we can’t be any worse.

“It’s my job to lift them and I will do that.

“But they have to pick themselves up as well because they’ve got a chance to rectify Saturday’s shocker and I’ll be expecting a major performance.”
