HARTLEPOOL United have been hit with a fresh injury blow to Nobby Solano, writes CRAIG HOPE.

The Peruvian ace suffered a hamstring strain during yesterday’s 3-0 defeat at Notts County as he stretched to connect with a second-half shot.

Pools will learn more today with regards the extent of the problem but Solano will almost certainly miss the next couple of matches.

He picked up a similar injury in the second game of the season against Walsall in August and sat out for three weeks on that occasion.

Boss Mick Wadsworth said: “Nobby has probably done his hamstring again when he stretched for that ball.

“It’s poor, bad luck really, but it’s an opportunity for someone else to come into the team.”

Gary Liddle fractured his cheekbone in that same game against the Saddlers and there were concerns yesterday that he may have suffered a similar injury when Neale Bishop’s boot connected with his face late on.

But Wadsworth says the midfielder has avoided serious injury and should be fit to play against Wycombe this Saturday.

“Lids is OK,” he said, “He’s got a face full of boot but there’s nothing major and I think he’ll be fine.”
