HARTLEPOOL United will this week look to close short-term deals for former Newcastle United pair Dennis Knight and Michael Riley.
The pair, both 19 years old, have been on trial at Maiden Castle in recent weeks following their release from The Magpies.
Knight caught the eye with two goals for the club’s reserves last week and manager John Hughes told SportMail he was keen to sign the striker.
And the Pools boss has today confirmed that left-sided utility man Riley is also set to be offered a contract until the end of the season.
“We’ll try to do something with Dennis and Michael looking to the end of the season,” said Hughes.
“There’s two months to go, let’s see if they can grab it by the horns a take a chance.
“We’ll get to know their character and see what they can do.
“Both have done well the past couple of weeks and they could maybe help us.”
