HARTLEPOOL United were today poised to boost their forward line with the loan signing of Sunderland attacker Craig Lynch.
Black Cats manager Martin O’Neill said on Wednesday that he had received inquiries for a number of the club’s young prospects.
And after the emergency loan window opened today, Neale Cooper has made his move and he will try to get the 20-year-old in his squad for today’s League One confrontation with Carlisle United.
The Pools first-team coach had been linked with another Sunderland striker Ryan Noble, who he had brought to Victoria Park earlier this year when he scored twice in nine appearances.
But the Hartlepool Mail and Peterlee Star revealed this week that Lynch was also on the Cooper wishlist.
A product of the Academy of Light, Lynch, at home as a striker or out wide, has been one of the young stars of the Cats reserve team.
The Chester-le-Street-born talent scored an average of a goal every two games two seasons ago while his return was one in three last term, though his campaign was interrupted by injury.
