RITCHIE Humphreys believes Hartlepool United have hit upon the right “dynamic” in their quest for survival.
The 35-year-old club captain will again anchor the midfield during tonight’s crunch home clash with Colchester United (kick-off 7.45pm).
Humphreys has started every game under John Hughes and has been an integral figure in the turnaround which has renewed hope of escaping the drop.
But the Pools veteran believes experienced heads such as his and Sam Collins have been complimented by the energy and enthusiasm of the side’s younger members.
“We’ve got ourselves a really nice blend and there is a good dynamic to the team right now,” Humphreys told SportMail ahead of tonight’s match.
“There’s some real experienced players in the team and some younger lads with real energy who are perhaps learning their way in the game.
“They have really stepped up and there’s been times when experienced players have held the game, the younger boys have won it and then the older ones have seen it out.
“So it’s working well and I think there’s a belief in the dressing room we can carry on what we have been doing.”
Pools were beaten for the first time since January when going down to a 3-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
